YCS Tacoma Champion: Inzektor

It had been a long time not updating my blog. Today I am going to update a deck that just won the YCS Tacoma. Its an Inzektor deck using by Michael Stibbins.

First of all, lets have a view on the deck list.

There are total 18 Monster, 12 Spell and 10 Traps in the main deck.

Lets discuss on the main deck.
Monsters:
2 Card trooper can mill hornet/ lady bug/ other inzektor monster that can later reborn back using monster reborn or call of the haunted. Its also +1 when it had been sent to graveyard.
2 Cardcar D helps to improve the draw power and get the key card to win the game.
DAD always a good card in Inzektor deck as inzektors have the ability to control their graveyard.
3 Centipede act as the searcher or main engine or the deck.
1 Dragonfly always the Key Card or Boss of the deck.
1 Gigamantis can be treat as an reborn in inzektor deck and always a huge boost up in ATK.
1 Hornet provide the destructive power to this deck and thats the reason why it is being limited to 1.
3 Ladybug that helps other Inzektor to modify their level and allows them to XYZ from rank 4 to rank 5.
1 Sangan always a good searcher in dark attribute deck and also a target for tour guide.
1 Spirit Reapee acts as a wall to stall until draw the KEY cards.
2 Tour guide always good in most of the deck as it is almost can be said as an instant rank 3 XYZ.

Spells:
1 Dark Hole: Great destructive cards to clear the monster
1 Foolish: Can be use very flexible in this deck. Mill ladybug or hornet for equip purpose / Mill Centi or Dragonfly to reborn with call of the haunted or monster reborn
1 Heavy Storm: Clear S/T Zone instantly
1 Lance: Very good in protecting monster from spell and trap. It is also good when against skill drain too. Allow your Inzektor continue its combo.
1 Monster Reborn: Great cards in almost every deck
2 Pod of duality: Increase consistency
2 Sword: Provide the ability to OTK. (1 Sword, 1 Dragonfly, 1 Hornet =OTK)
3 MST:  Tools to clear S/T

Traps:
3 Call of the haunted: Provided the ability to keep on combo after Inzektor goes grave. Its not easy to stop summon for twice or more.
2 Compulsory: Great cards against XYZ and synchros.
2 Warning: Staple
3 Roar: A stall card until you get KEY cards to win the game.

Basically, Cardcar D, POD and roar create a good search and defensive tools for this deck. You can use POD to search roar. Set it and use cardcar D to draw your key card. Roar can prevent you from being OTK. Apart from that, Roar can protect your little inzektor from being attacked. Your opponent might do a lot of move to try to OTK you, but you can simply stop them by using roar. Then, its your turn to counter him with dragonfly and hornet in the next turn.

This deck managed to won the champion due to many reasons. One of the main reason is most of the player already side out their veiler for maxx c. They are not prepare well for this deck. An under-rated deck can always surprise your opponent as they are not expected to face such deck.
With massive destructive power and ability to spam field. Inzektor is still a great deck to play.

Local tourney Lightlord deck

Hello guys, it is 2 November 2012. Last week my friends had joined a local tournament around 16 players and get 1st place. Today I will discuss and share his deck list here.
So before we proceed to the discussion, let's have a look on the deck list:

This deck consist of 31 monsters and 9 spells in main deck. So basically this is a chaos lightlord build but combine with some dark tuner to create chances to synchro and increase dark materials in the grave at the same time. Lightlord monsters have been the major part of this deck which consist of 16/40 including the 3 JD. Both wyvern act as the best searcher to add JD to hand when they mill to graveyard. Card trooper, lightlord monsters and lightlord engine are the main milling power for this deck. Both Trago are the tools to prevent OTK and to take control opponent monster. There are many huge monster in this deck which included BLS, Chaos Sorcerer, DAD, 3 JD and the ultimate boss Timelord. Each of them have different role in this deck. I will briefly explain on Sephylon, the ultimate timelord.
Monster: Sephylon, the ultimate timelord.
Effects: Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned(from your hand) by having 10 or more monsters in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Level 8 or higher Fairy-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard, but its effects are negated and its ATKbecomes 4000.
Sephylon, the ultimate timelord. The condition to summon this monster required to have 10 or more monster in your graveyard. You can special summon 1 level 8 fairy type monster from hand / grave. This effect is great if you are running fairy deck. I can't imagne  a Hyperion with 4000 ATK.

Basically my friend are not using the 2nd eff in this deck. The milling power for this deck is strong enough for him to ss timelord which act as a 4k beater after JD clear the field. It is hard to defeat a 4k beater without spell/traps in this format.

I think we still can modify some part for this deck to improve the efficiency. I think thats all for the sharing. Will be update another deck list in my next post and it is time to prepare for my Asian plus on 10 November.   Guys, hope you enjoy this post. Thank you.

Returning of Chaos Dragon

Hey guys, it is 10 October 2012. Extra pack 2012 is going to release few more days and I believe that it would bring some impact to the OCG land. One of the deck that might increase playability is definitely the Chaos Dragon as Tour Guide (TGU) will increase some dark element for the deck and make the deck more consistent. So I will share a standard Chaos Dragon build that will suitable in this format.

30 Monsters:
1 BLS
2 Card trooper
1 Chaos Sorcerer
1 Dark Armed Dragon
3 Dark flare Dragon
1 Eclipse Wyvern
2 Effect veiler
1 Gorz
3 Light Pulsar Dragon
3 Lyla
2 Maxx C
1 Night Assailant
1 RedDM
3 Ryko
1 Sangan
2 TGU
2 Tragoedia

10 Spells:
1 Allure of darkness
1 Charge of the light brigade
1 Dark hole
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster reborn
3 MST
2 Solar recharge

15 Side:
2 D.d. crow (effective hand traps against Inzektor, DarkWorld, Chaos Dragon, BF, and etc.)
2 Gemini Imps (perfect against DW)
2 Puppet Plant (counter for Six Sam, Hero and HB)
3 Thunder King rai-oh (counter for Hero, gadgets and etc.)
2 Prohibition (effective to counter key card of some deck example: final countdown, wind-up shark)
2 Compulsory evacuation device (good against xyz and synchro)
2 Royal decree (stop heavy trap base deck)

15 Extra:
1 AOJ Catastor
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Scrap Dragon
1 Adreus
1 Gaia dragon
1 Atum
1 Exa-bettle
1 Leviair
1 Maestroke
1 No17
1 No 20
1 Bounzer
1 Queen Dragon
1 Temtempo
1 Zenmaines

There are some advantages to use Chaos Dragon deck in this format. First of all, most deck in this format will play 2 to 3 MST and a Heavy Storm in main deck. Chaos Dragon deck make them have death draw that around 3/40 to 4/40 in each other deck.  Besides, Chaos Dragon deck full with huge and big monster with 2300 ATK  to 3000 ATK that easily to summon as long as the graveyard have enough dark and light monsters. CD deck has high chance to perform OTK. Apart from that, CD deck is hard to stop if their graveyard have enough materials as that can keep on special summon the big monster from their hand. Trago and Gorz also can stop most deck huge push and prevent OTK. Maxx C in this build can easily gain hand advantages when opponent preparing for a huge push.

The disadvantages of CD deck is definitely depend heavily to graveyard. By locking the grave, CD deck is almost shutdown 99%. Next, the consistency of the deck is not very high compare to other meta deck. However with the release of TGU in OCG will definitely increase some consistency to this deck and it also allow xyz to Leviair to take back banished material and reuse them.

Finally, Chaos Dragon deck is still playable in OCG and have the power to fight against HEROs, Machina, Agent and other meta as well.

(Waste some traps when he summon his machina) This is my 4th time joining for Top Store qualified player and finally listed in the Top Store qualified player list after getting top 4 for three times. Special thank to my friends Edward and Weida that accompany and help me.

In a nutshell, rabbit Laggia deck is still playable but we still need to find some ways to increase it's consistency. I hope that the Extra Pack 5 will release soon to increase the consistency of this deck. Thank you for your time, hope you guys enjoy this tourney.

Leviar The Sea Dragon x1
No17 x1
No30 x1
No39 x1
No61 x1
Wind-up Arsenal Zenmaioh x1
Wind-up Zemaines x1

The purpose of this deck build is to spam the field with DW monsters and gaining hand advantages with the field "The Gate of Dark World".
Let me explain some cards in this "turbo DW" deck.

1) Reckless Greed + Upstart Goblin + Gate: ( Engine for turbo DW)
Reckless Greed and Upstart Goblin are two key cards that speed up this deck. The side effect caused by this two cards are not a problem for DW. The Gate of DW can easily cover the punishment from the Reckless greed and the adding life point for opponent is not a problem too as a single hit of Grapha with 3000 ATK can settle the opponent easily.
By using reckless greed and upstart goblin nicely, we will be able to gain huge hand advantages. Huge advantages gain when we use 2 or 3 reckless greed in same turn, as we only punished by skipping draw phase for 1 reckless.

2) Leviar the Sea Dragon
Leviar ability manage to call back a banished DW monster. We can easily summon Leviar with a tour and broww. Then use leviar's effect to call a DW monster to the field. If we have Grapha in our grave. We can SS Grapha by returning the DW monster call back by Leviar to hand. Leviar helps to recycle our monster in banish zone and help us to gain a free Grapha.

3) No17, No61, Gaia and Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of hielopolis.
There are plenty of different XYZs in this deck. We have different ways to use them to help us to win a game. No17 is like a free foolish burial in this deck. We can summon tour and special summon broww from deck and overlay them to No17. Then detach Broww to grave with No17's effect and we manage to fill our grave with Broww. No61 is another good XYZ monster in this deck, we can SS it with 2 Sillva. We can easily reach an OTK with 2 Sillva and 1 Grapha although our opponent has a huge monster to protect them. We can overlay both Sillva to No61 and use eff on them. After destroying their monster and deal some damages to them, we overly Gaia on No61. Then we can attack with Gaia on their def position monster and Grapha for last hit. Hieratic Sun Dragon is another good card to DW because we can overlay it with 2 Grapha. We will detach Grapha to grave when using Sun dragon's effect. However, it is easy for us to reborn Grapha as we can easily summon a DW monster on field to SS Grapha. Sun dragon can be use to destroy some monster like spirit reaper, setted ryko and setted mirror force.
4) Skill drain+Virus
Skill drain can stopped most of the META decks to perform their combos and it affect this deck most of the time. We still have to use this card wisely as it will affect our tour guide to use its effect.
Virus is good when we fight against deck with small monsters such as psychics, wind-up, gadgets and geargia. We can gain opponent hand information at the same time. By combining with the dark world dealing and  dragged down we can gain more hand information of our opponent. "If you know the enemy and you know yourself, you need not fear the result of hundred battles. If you know yourself but don't know your enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor your self, you will succumb in every battle." quoted from Sun Tzu, an ancient Chinese military general, strategist and philosopher who is traditionally believed to be the author of The Art of War.

Strength and weakness of this deck:
Strengths:
High ability to perform OTK as having a 3000 ATK beater (with the field card)
Good ability to recycle the boss, Grapha with it own effect can SS himself back by returning 1 DW monster controlled on field to hand.
Good in against most META deck as skill drain and virus in the main that can cause lot of problems to them.
High ability to search cards, add cards and draw cards with all his own archetype support cards and other support cards to maintain a consistency on this deck.

Weaknesses:
Highly rely on the graveyard to perform combos.
Easily counter in game 2 and 3 as most deck will have cards to counter DW in side deck. For example: d.d. crow, Shadow-imprisoning, Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmo.
Rely heavily on discard engine. Deck totally dead if cant get discard engine.

In a nutshell, turbo DW is a very nice and playable deck that allow player to use it in different ways. It is different with the other deck that we can see nowadays that always play huge number of traps. It should be fun if you have a try on this. Thank you for your time and enjoy your day.

The six samurai deck has strong ability to swarm the field and gaining huge advantages with two spell cards: "Gate of the six" and "Six samurai united". The searching ability of six samurai deck is also very strong with the assist cards "Reinforcement of the army", "Asceticism of the Six Samurai" and "Shien's smoke signal".
Although there are just 13 monster in the deck but with so many support cards, it is easy to have get monster to your hand.
The key card of this deck is definitely "Gate of the Six" and "Six Samurai United". By using this both cards wisely, you will able to swarm the field with monsters and without losing your hand advantages. The use of the bushido counter is very important as it can helps  you to continue adding cards to your hand.

Another good support cards beside "Gate of the six" and "Six samurai United" is the "Asceticism of the Six Samurai". In this deck, we have can use "Asceticism of the Six Samurai" on almost all the monsters in different situation:
1) Kagemusha with 400 ATK and Elder of the Six Samurai with 400 ATK, vice versa
2) Kageki with 1700 ATK (While control another face-up "Six Samurai" monster)and Enishi 1700ATK 3) Kizan with 1800 ATK and Zanji 1800 ATK, vice versa
4) Kizan with 2100 ATK (While you control 2 or more other face-up "Six Samurai" monsters) and Grandmaster with 2100 ATK
With so many targets and choices, "Asceticism of the Six Samurai" is a good cards in this deck that allow you to control the game with different ways.

"Double-Edge sword technique" is another good support cards for six samurai as it allow user to special summon two monsters with one cards, we can synchro or overlay these monster to avoid the negative effects. It helps us to recycle the limited monster in our deck.

Normally Six Samurai players with synchro summon "Legendary six samurai -Shi En" to the field 1st before they swarming others monsters to the field as Shi En has the ability to negate spell and traps. Naturia Barkion and Naturia Beast are another choices for the user of this deck to lock the field.

The ability to OTK for this deck is definitely strong because of the strong swarming ability and the XYZ monsters (H.C Excalibur, Blade Armor Ninja and M-X-Saber Invoker). It is easy to swarm "Shi En" and 3 "Kizan" to the field in one turn with the helps of the "Gate of the six" which can deal up to [2500+(2100x3)=8800] 8800 damage in one turn.

Strength:
Fast enough to OTK opponent without dragging the game.
Strong ability to swarm monsters to field without losing hand advantages.
Good ability to negate spell and trap cards with those synchro monsters.
Combos with XYZ monster that can deal up to 11100++ damage with 4 monsters (Shi En 2500 + Grandmaster 2100 + Kizan 2100 + Blade Armor Ninja 2200x2)

Weakness:
Lack of ability to negate special summon and prevention of summoning: we can only use the trap cards to negate the summoning of opponent monsters
Low ability on effect negation. Monsters like Snowman Eater, Puppet plant and Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo create big problem to this deck.
Having trouble when versus high attack monsters such as Grapha and Red-eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.

Sides: 15
Electric Virus x1 [Good in the game with chaos dragon, hieratic, machina and geargia. Control them and use it to synchro or XYZ)
Gemini Imps x1 [Use to against dark world most of the time]
Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer x2 [Counter to Chaos, Chaos dragon, DW deck and etc..]
Dark hole x1 [Staple card for massive destruction on Monsters]
Dimensional Fissure x2 [Against highly grave-base deck BF, DW, Mermaid]
Heavy Storm x1 [Another staple card for massive destruction on Spells and Traps]
Mystical Space Typhoon x1 [Staple card to destroy spell traps]
Soul Taker x1 [Counter to pulsar dragon and other high ATK monsters]
Compulsory Evacuation Device x1 [Good in against heavy synchro and XYZ monster deck, bounce them with 1 card to +1 or more]
Dimensional Prison x1 [Good non-target trap]
Macro Cosmo x1 [Same as Dimensional Fissure]
Rivalry of Warlords x1 [Counter to Wind-up, psychic, plant synchro deck with different type of monsters]
Torrential Tribute x1 [Another staple card for massive destruction on summon]

Six Samurai deck is a potential deck that can play better in this format because of his strong ability to negate spell and traps card and other decks already reduce the ability to do mass destruction (inzektor). By using the support cards of six samurai in good way, this deck has great chance to take down most of the game easily.

Machina Gadget Deck List

It is 8 September 2012. We had been using the new format for 1 week and it had reset the most of the Meta deck in both OCG and TCG land. Today I would like to share a Machina gadget deck that did pretty well in this format.

Trap: 11
Compulsory Evacuation Device x2

Solemn Judgement x1
Bottomless Trap Hole x2
Torrential Tribute x2
Ultimate offering x1
Mirror force x1

Extra:
Chimeratech Fortress Dragon x1
Stardust Dragon x1
Daigusto Emeral x1
Evilswarm Ouroborus x1
Fairy King Albverdich x1
Gagaga Gunman x1
Gear Gigant X x2
Maestroke The Symphony Djinn x1
No11: Big Eye x1
No16: Shock Master x1
No39: Utopia x1
No c39: Utopia Ray x1
Photon Paphilloperative x1
Steelswarm Roach x1

Discussion:
The idea of this deck is using the search power of the gadgets and Machina Gearframe to search and continue summon by using Tinplate Goldfish, Double Summon and Ultimate Offering. The main purpose is to summon as many as monster in the field to gain field advantages and hand advantages as well.

One of the basic combo shows below:
We need 3 cards to start this combo. (Any one of the gadget, Tinplate Goldfish and Double Summon)
Normal Summon Tinplate Goldfish and use its effect to special summon Gadget, search for another gadget.
Overlay Goldfish and Gadget into Gear Gigant X. Then search Goldfish with Gear Gigant X.
Use double summon. Normal summon Goldfish and special Gadget, search for the third Gadget.
Overlay both into another Gear Gigant X and search for either Goldfish or Machina Gearframe.
Your field now have 2 Gear Gigant with 2300 ATK and your hand have 5 cards( 1 is gadget and another 1 is Machine Monster search by the second Gear Gigant X)

Ultimate Offering Combo:
The cards we need to start this combo are just any one of the gadgets and Ultimate Offering. With the ability to search another gadgets once summon, we can continue to summon with Ultimate Offering without reducing our hand power. We can spam our field with Rank 4 XYZ such as No16 that can stop monster effects, spell and traps, Evilswarm Ouroborus that have 3 effects, Fairy King Albverdich that can reduce ATK, Gear Giant X that can search more monsters etc..

If a gadget and a Machina Fortress are in our hand, we can summon gadget to get another gadget to our hand. Then we discard both Fortress and gadget to grave to special summon Machina Fortress a 2500 ATK beater. 2500 ATK + 1200 ATK (yellow gadget with lowest ATK among three) = 3700. We can easily damage our opponent life point to almost half with just 2 cards.

Strength:
Ability to gain hand advantages (searching each another for gadget and searching Machina fortress with gearframe.)
Ability to reborn for Machina Fortress. We can simply discard any machine monsters with level 8 or higher to special summon Fortress in hand and grave.
Fortress don't really afraid of Solemn Warning. He can easily reborn.
Easily to spam variety of ranl 4 XYZ with gadgets.

Weakness:
Low ATK among all gadget. (1400 is the highest)
Thunder King has the ability to make this deck into critical situation as it can stop the searching ability and negate the special summon.
Skill drain most of the monster effect of this deck.
Ally of Justice is one of the card that can beat most of the monster in this deck.
Cyber dragon is also another card that can cause negative impact to this deck by its fusion Chimeratech Fortress Dragon.

September Format Discussion

It is 30 August 2012 today, we will be going to use the new format 2 more days. After my friend Edward and I had discussed the new ban list, We had made some predictions on the next format circumferences in OCG land.

First of all, both of us estimate that Chaos Dragon and Hieratic deck are still playable and not dead yet although redDM limited to 1. They will rise quickly before any new discovery.

Since Inzektor is hit so hard. Some decks are going to rise in the coming format. Machina Gadget is rising in the coming format with the consistent adding hand advantages of gadget and lots of rank 4 XYZ release along the previous format. Junk Dopper also become more competitive with the ability of OTK.

Personally I think Spellbook will be the next archetype that will be next tier 1 deck because it has variety of new support cards and spell caster is one of the favourite of the Japanese.

Mermaid deck is another potential deck in the coming format and it will be consistent by combining hanzo with it.
With the returning of earth in 2, agent deck will back to Malaysia land. I predict 30% of the Malaysia players will use this deck in tournament as it is budget and Anti Meta in some way.

After discussing some decks that potential in coming format, we also discuss about Mirror force that semi-limited. I think that more than half of the players in OCG land will keep slots for mirror force in either default or side. The existing huge destructive cards that manage to destroy 2 or more cards in default, starlight road has increase usefulness because most players will include dark hole, heavy storm, and 2 torrential and 2 mirrors in default. It is 6/40 and increases the targets for starlight road.

In previous format, many players in OCG put chain disappearance instead of bottomless in their default to against Inzektor. We believe that bottomless is back and replace chain disappearance again.

As Wind-up Zenmaity at limit 1, hand card is back to safe again as no more wind up loops. Inzektor dragonfly and hornet at 1 also create a non-explosive field circumference.  So we believe that they will be more set trap in the coming format.

However, I still believe that the TGU will create impact to the OCG land. The playing style or deck build fashion will change with the release of TGU.

The new format is format that reset most Meta and creates a brand new environment for players and KONAMI to continue promote XYZ and earn more money.

Round 1: Vs Hanzo Hieratic
